Join us for a hike at the Wehr Nature Center, an inland birding hotspot! We’ll meet outside the building and watch the feeders as we wait for others to arrive. Wehr Nature Center is a 220 acre nature preserve and is part of Whitnall Park.
The building has restrooms and opens at 8:30am. Be sure to check out the displays in the building including a beautiful mural around the welcome desk that was painted by local artist Judith Huf.
What to Expect
The trails go through woodlands, prairies, around Mallard Lake, and near creeks. There are hills, uneven paths, and boardwalks.
Accessibility
Wehr has all-terrain mobility chairs that may be reserved online! Visit their Accessibility & Inclusion page to learn more about the center’s accessible programs and to contact their Accessibility Coordinator with any questions. Please reach out to the BBC team if you would like any assistance with the reservation or planning process!
Parking
You’ll see signs in the parking lot that ask for $5 parking fees for non-members. Wehr staff will waive the parking fee for the morning for our group.
