Join us in exploring the Urban Ecology Center of the Menomonee Valley as part of the Brew City Birding Festival, a great place to enjoy nature and look for migrating songbirds.

What to Expect

As always, birders of all skill levels are welcome and we have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair!

We’ll meet at the Urban Ecology Center at the Menomonee Valley. We’ll gather at 4:30 at the entrance of the center where we will enjoy the soft gallery opening of a display called “Flight, En Vuelo” that celebrates birds and art. First you'll get to see and hear about Keli Rice's Migration: an electronic art piece designed to comment on the impact of the built environment on the natural migration of North American Songbirds. There will be a short Q&A followed up by a bird walk at 5:30 to find warblers and other spring migrants. We’ll be exploring the beautiful Three Bridges Park and walking along parts of the Hank Aaron Trail. We may also explore secondary trails and paths which are narrow and gravel or soil paved. We’ll see what we find in the wonderful bird habitats along the Menomonee River.

Additional Events

The Urban Ecology Center also announces the following and invites the BIPOC Birding Club members to join:

  1. Bilingual Bird Walk on Weds May 14th at 8am - Join a group of Spanish-speaking folks as we go around looking for birds. Beginner friendly.

  2. Throughout the Brew City Birding Festival dates of May 13-19, come see Florida-based artist Delia Miller work on a crane mural right outside of our UEC-Menomonee Valley branch! This mural is thanks to a collaboration with the International Crane Foundation. More details about the time Delia will be working on the mural will be shared closer to the dates.
