We regret to inform you that the World Migratory Bird Day event scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday), October 14th, 2023, at Jackson Park in Milwaukee, has been canceled due to inclement weather. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all participants, and after careful consideration, the planning team has decided that it is best to cancel the event.

Please join us at our next event to the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo!

The BIPOC Birding Club of Wisconsin has been invited to join our partner organizations: Urban Ecology Center, Nearby Nature, Environmental Protection Network, Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society, Bird City Wisconsin and others to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day at Jackson Park.

We will start with a bird walk around the pond. Jackson Park is an urban park that has 149 species documented there and has even had its share of rarities including a Ross’s Goose/Snow Goose hybrid in the fall of 2022. With the presence of the BIPOC Birding Club bird nerds, we can add some more birds to Jackson Park’s list! As Dexter would say, “Let’s Go!”

Meeting Location

Please note that we will meet in the area between the pool and the pond.

What to Expect

We’ll take about an hour to walk around the pond. This portion of the walk is fully wheelchair/stroller-accessible on a flat, paved surface. Afterwards, we will explore the mulched trails in the wooded area on the south end of the park and the Kinnickinnic River on the west end of the park.

Fun family games and activities will be taking place from 9am to noon, so bring the family and enjoy the morning.
