Who do you picture when you think of a scientist? Most people imagine a man in a white lab coat who looks like Einstein! This open-house-style event aims to break the stereotype of who can be successful in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) fields. Girls (all kids and their families are welcome) can catch the “science bug” through hands-on activities and learn about female STEAM pioneers and their important contributions to our world. Local women leaders from various STEAM backgrounds present hands-on activities so young women can connect with a potential mentor and everyone can see that anyone can be a scientist!

This event is part science fair, part job fair for kids ages 10 and up. Local scientists, engineers, and women in STEAM fields will share their stories, expertise, and engage you in hands-on activities. Rita Flores Wiskowski and Yesenia Villanueva Rodriguez, Milwaukee-Area Coordinators of the BIPOC Birding Club, will be there sharing what it means to be a community scientist! You can turn your birding and nature observing hobby into important data that can be used by career scientists in their work.

The event is free! (Thank you We Energies Foundation!) Please register in advance and be sure to stop by and say, “Hi!”
